Since January 2016, NAI Black has partnered with 2nd Harvest’s Bite 2 Go program to provide 90 students at Bemiss Elementary School with a food kit each week.  Fifty-five percent of students in Spokane public schools qualify for free or reduced-price meals, but many of these students may not have enough to eat when they get home.  Bite 2 Go ensures that elementary school students have food for the weekend. These meal kits include healthy, kid-friendly, non-perishable items that children can safely and easily handle on their own, and contain enough food for four meals and three snacks.

Our NAI family has greatly enjoyed our time working with 2nd Harvest and Bemiss Elementary, and would like to call more attention to the amazing work that they do.  Our employees, friends, and families have donated both money and time toward this organization.  In addition to picking up the meal kits from 2nd Harvest each Friday and delivering them to Bemis Elementary, we have participated in one of 2nd Harvest’s semi-annual “Big Builds” and two smaller “VIP Builds” which assembles meal kits in advance.  The Big Build draws over 1,200 volunteers in one day to assemble the kits.  VIP Builds consist of about 25 people from a specific organization.  The last time our NAI Black team participated in a VIP Build, we assembled over 1,200 meal kits.  This past December we also did fundraising to create a Christmas Break Box for the 90 students at Bemiss we support through Bite 2 Go.

In addition to participating in the Bite 2 Go program, we have had several “Blue Jean Fridays” to raise money and items for 2nd Harvest, Bemiss Elementary School, Our Sister’s Closet, SpokAnimal, and Project Beauty Share.
